Welcome to my web siteBelow there are a few things about me and what I like to do. Hello my name is Hugh and I am from Kellogg, ID This year I took my hunter safety class and started hunting with my grandpa. My grandpa and his hunting partner Dan have a hunting camp up on a friend's private property. This year they invited me to go with so that I could get my first elk. They set up the wall tent and the shooting tables so that we would be ready to hunt in the morning. It was bulls only season so we could only shoot bull elk. The first day we didn't see anything so we made something to eat then went to bed. The next day my grandpa and I were making a walking path that led through the woods while Dan watched the hillside. After about an hour Dan said that there were some deer on the hill side. We hurried over and set the rifle up on the table. I took aim and shot. The deer didn't move. After about another 11 shots the deer walked off. We decided to shoot the rifle to see if it was accurate. We found a target and found out that the table's chair wasn't the right height for me. We change it then saw some elk. None had antlers so we didn't get anything that day. The next morning we got up and my grandpa noticed some elk on the hillside. We set up the rifle and I sat down. I got the elk in the scope and saw that it was a spike. I took a shot and hit it in the hind quarters and broke it's leg. It was dragging itself away so I shot again. That time I shot it through the lungs and out its spine. A few days later I had to go home. When I got back I took the meat from the freezer to the meat cutter. Now it's in my freezer and it I've got 270 pounds of meat. My best friend and I are big time outdoorsmen. We enjoy hunting, fishing, hiking, target shooting, and 4 wheeling. Last summer we left our tent and hiked up to a stream to fish. We got to a bridge and looked over to a hillside. Then we saw two deer getting a drink from the stream. The deer looked up and saw us so they took off up the hill. We were out fishing for hours and didn't even get a bite. We headed home and by the time we got back we were really tired. |
