KEEPING YOU INFORMED

This report is a summary of some indicators of the performance of our school. No single report can tell the whole story of our school's educational program or the people who work and learn here. We encourage you to find out firsthand by visiting our school. If you are a parent of one of our students, we invite you to take an active role in your child's learning because studies show that when parents are involved, students do better in school.

OUR SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

Our goal is to provide a place for students to learn without distractions and concerns for safety. We closely monitor activities on our campus and offer programs to prevent alcohol, tobacco and substance abuse. As required by state and federal laws and rules, we collect, monitor and report on crimes and substance abuse incidents on our campus and at school activities. A complete report on this information about our school and district is available at:

http://www.sde.idaho.gov/ipd/reportcard/SchoolReportCard.asp.

or by contacting Bonnie Farmin in our school district.

HOW WE ARE IMPROVING

This past school year KHS implemented a Behavior Management Plan (demerit system) that reduced discipline referrals by 56% from 817 in SY 06-07 to 455 in SY 07-08.  The goal was to provide and sustain a school culture and tone that was conducive to student learning and conveyed an emphasis on academic achievement.  Another program adopted was After-School Tutoring during the 2nd through 4th quarters.  Students struggling academically were assigned to AST Monday through Thursdays.  As a result of these two measures the number of students receiving non-passing grades was again reduced.

OPTIONS FOR PARENTS

Parents of Kellogg High School students have the ParentCONNECTxp software available to them again this year.  This is an electronic (online) program set up to assist parents/guardians monitor and assist in their child's academic performance.  It is a convenient home-to-school collaboration tool that allows the parent/guardian access to view the student's academic progress, assignments, attendance, discipline, and schedule daily and quarterly.  In addition, the parent/guardian can easily communicate with teachers through e-mail, voice mail and schedule appointments.  The school also holds parent teacher conferences in the fall of the SY.
