The $20,000 KFC Colonel’s Scholarship is available to a graduating senior with financial need and an entrepreneurial spirit.  Must have a minimum 2.75 GPA and plan to attend an Idaho school of higher learning for a 4-year degree.  Applications on-line at www.kfcscholars.org and will be available December 1 to February 10.

Planning to attend Boise State University?  The Albertson’s Foundation has just given $1 million dollars for a new scholarship.  The “Go ON” scholarship is $5,000 for 4 years.  No special application necessary.  Apply to BSU, have FAFSA submitted, and turn-in the BSU Supplemental Scholarship Application before February 15.

The Idaho Farm Bureau is offering 8 $750 scholarships. (Four in the Non-Ag related field of study & 4 in the Ag related field of study).  The Kootenai-Shoshone Farm Bureau is also offering one $1,500 Ag related Scholarship.  Students can apply for both County & State awards.  Parents must be members of the Farm Bureau.  More information & applications can be found in the counseling office.  Deadline March 15, 2010.

Planning to attend North Idaho College?  General Scholarship applications are on-line or at counseling center.  Priority deadline March 16.  NIC has recently changed their scholarships and are now offering new ones, such as the Presidential scholarship.  The Presidential is a full year tuition/fees scholarship, with a deadline of February 25.  (More information at www.nic.edu , click current student, click scholarships or Presidential Scholarship.)

Seniors: Pepsi is offering a free scholarship search website. Their database has more than $22 billion in scholarship awards. Go to www.TuitionFundingSources.com. You will need to create your own password. You may use this service throughout the year free of charge.

The magazine "NextSTEP" is offering 10 $1,000 scholarships. Applications at counseling center. You may also apply for a 2nd $5,000 scholarship online at www.nextSTEPmag.com/Contests.

The Common Application is available to students interested in applying to colleges online. Go to www.commonapp.org and follow the instructions.

IF you are graduating with an Advanced Diploma and IF you are eligible for a PELL Grant, you may also be eligible for the $750 Academic Competitiveness (AC) Grant. Contact the financial aid office of the college you are planning to attend to see if you qualify.
