The Wendy’s High School Heisman 2008 application is now available. Eligibility for the application is limited exclusively to men and women entering their senior year of high school in the 2008-2009 academic year, who have at least a “B” grade average and participate in at least one of the 32 sports officially sanctioned by the National Federation of State High Schools. The National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts is hosting a contest in several areas, including Music, Voice, Writing, Theater, Art, etc. Awards up to $10,000. The Voice of Democracy contest, sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, is available to all students, grades 9 – 12. The 3 – 5 minute oral essay must focus on the theme, “Service and Sacrifice by America’s Veterans Benefit Today’s Youth by ……” National Awards of $148,000 with a top award of $30,000. Seniors: Pepsi is offering a free scholarship search website. Their database has more than $22 billion in scholarship awards. Go to www.TuitionFundingSources.com. You will need to create your own password. You may use this service throughout the year free of charge.
The magazine "NextSTEP" is offering 10 $1,000 scholarships.

North Idaho College has a separate Scholarship application with a priority due date of March 1. Also, they have the state-wide Minority and "At-Risk" scholarship application. Eligibility guidelines listed on application. See counseling center or go online at www.nice.edu/financialaid/.
The Common Application is available to students interested in applying to colleges online. Go to www.commonapp.org and follow the instructions.
IF you are graduating with an Advanced Diploma and IF you are eligible for a PELL Grant, you may also be eligible for the $750 Academic Competitiveness (AC) Grant. Contact the financial aid office of the college you are planning to attend to see if you qualify.
