Sunnyside Child Nutrition Mission Statement:
It is the Sunnyside School Child Nutrition and Food Service Department's, goal to prepare nutritious and appealing meals for students, staff, and guests. Be pleasant and cheerful to those that we serve. Work in an effective and positive manner and work as a team. Demonstrate professionalism and good ethics. Provide nutritional information and materials that are available for staff, students, and parents.
Kitchen Manager: Julie Spurway

Julie has been in Child Nutrition and School Food Service since 1988.
She became certified in 1994 through the Idaho School Food Service
Association and the American School Food Service Association. Julie is
certified as Supervisor Level III. Every three years she is
required to earn 45 credits of Formal Education and Continuing Education
to maintain her certification with the School Nutrition Association.

Julie also has a real interest in health and nutrition and does a lot of research in this area. Julie is a member of the Emerald Valley Chapter of the Idaho School Nutrition Association and currently holds the office of Certification Chairman & Membership. She has served one term as Chapter President.
Assistant Manager: Stella Morgan

Stella is the Assistant Kitchen Manager at Sunnyside Elementary. Stella is a member of the Emerald Valley Chapter of the Idaho School Nutrition Association and is currently serving as President. She is also a member of the School Nutrition Association at the national level and is certified at Level 1. She is required to earn 15 credits of continuing education every three years to maintain her certification and is currently working toward her Level II certification.

Sunnyside kitchen staff along with other Food Service staff participated in catering meals for the Cycle America group that traveled though our area June 21st and 22nd, 2007.
The Sunnyside Elementary School cafeteria has recently received another new milk cooler from the Idaho Dairy Council.
The Sunnyside kitchen staff was also awarded an all expenses paid trip to the Idaho School Nutrition Association’s annual state conference held in Boise, June 17th-21st 2007. Julie and Stella attended the conference. It was a great conference.
Many thanks to the Idaho Dairy Council for both the milk cooler and the paid trip to Conference.
