Spelling Bee
Canyon was represented well in the District Spelling Bee last night at Pinehurst Elementary. 4th grade's Joseph Benson finished 3rd, 5th graders Avery Mace and Rebekah Zufelt place 5th and 4th respectively and our own Taylor Carlson is the Kellogg District 4th grade Spelling Champion! She will advance to the Regional competition in March.
Semester Benchmark Assessments
Reminder to Canyon staff to schedule these assessments before Feb. 4, so we can use the data to discuss student progress and interventions.
Helping Haiti
A big thanks to student Clayton Pickles and to Mrs. Joslyn for organizing our Change for Haiti school project. That's what global awareness and peace is all about. Thanks also to Cody Lemieux for taking time out from his busy schedule to teach us more about Haiti and to support our project.
Playground Equipment Fundraiser
Canyon students will be selling pizzas from now until Feb. 12 to contribute funding toward some new playground equipment. Thanks to the Canyon Student Council for organizing this fundraiser.
Canyon Recycling Project
Student Council members have read and discussed the concerns brought by students regarding our school-wide recycling project. The Student Council will write and post the rules on recycling for all to read. Discussions are still under way about whether to keep recycling as a competition. We'll keep you posted.
Kid to Kid Cougar Pride Tickets
As part of the Canyon Peace Project, students in Grade 4/5 will be giving out Cougar Pride tickets for acts of kindness observed. Please let your students know that they may receive tickets from school adults or 4th and 5th graders. The drawing for the Cougar Pride prize will continue on Fridays.
